Sports & Remedial Massage
Bringing the gift of remedial massage to your workplace,
sports club or event
Hi I am Kairen Jackson and this is Tilly she photographs so much better than me.
This bit is not really "About us" its About me but having that as a title just looks as if my ego has gone berserk, so the title remains About us...
I am a Sports and Remedial Massage Therapist with a varied background, as I've been around the block a few times and done a lot of stuff.
My THIRD job was working in Newcastle Dental Hospital as a dental nurse, I started at the age of 16. During my time there I became interested in health and fitness, I began to compete in national fitness events in my spare time and studied part time qualifying as a fitness coach through first for fitness, a local fitness training company.
In 1986 I left the dental hospital to make my hobby my profession, my business was - New Image fitness. I mostly taught fitness classes and did personal training, but I also got contracts with leisure centres and health projects, one of these contracts was with a health project in North Shields, (Meadowell after the riots) I worked there 2 days a week.
In my first year at Meadowell I set up a Health Resource which was welI received, so I was offered a permanent position as a health promotion specialist and subsequently funded to qualify as a health promotion specialist with an advanced diploma in Health Science/Health Promotion (specializing in exercise and nutrition) at Northumbria University. I continued to work as a health promotion specialist in North Tyneside for 10 years until the funding ran out, I loved this work.
During my time at MeadowelI I began to train as a massage therapist studying at Newcastle and Edinburgh, my interest in massage began because of my own back pain issues, I had tried many therapies from physiotherapy to osteopathy but it was not until I had deep tissue massage and trigger point work that I finally got relief from my chronic back pain .
So... I trained as a therapist, set up my practice after the project lost its funding and I lost my job. I opened my first treatment room in Milestones Health Club, in Walbottle, Newcastle in 2002. Wallbottle village was built on the remains of Hadrians Wall, my first practice was "just off the wall".
I also worked as a lecturer in anatomy & physiology and advanced massage techniques at Newcastle College and during my time at there I also qualified in aromatherapy, reflexology and acupressure massage.
Now located in Corbridge in the Tyne Valley area which is also close to Prudhoe, Stocksfield, Riding Mill, Hexham, Matfen, Chollerford and Haydon Bridge.
